Advent Season
This year on November 27 Sunday we will light the first candle on the Advent wreath and enter the official festive season according to Christian tradition. The advent Season, which lasts until Christmas i.e. the day of the birth of baby Jesus, is the time for turning inward, waiting and silence. Every Sunday for these four weeks we light a candle on a beautifully decorated Advent wreath in our homes. Traditionally the advent wreath has one pink and three purple candles. The first candle symbolises faith, the second hope, and the fourth represents love. The third, the pink candle, symbolises joy.
Nowadays, the colour of candles has lost its religious meaning and is made as home decoration in many colours and forms. The advent period also plays an important role in the life of communities, this period is packed with performances, shows and joint candle-lighting events.
